One Idea Made Me $2,700. I Built a Claude Skill That Finds More.

It scans YouTube, X, and Reddit for article ideas, scores them against my own data, and ships a dashboard I can open in my browser.

According to Upwork, I worked 2,103 hours last year. That's 8.3 hours a day.

On top of that, I published 138 Substack posts. 2.7 posts a week.

The single biggest time sink in that 138 number was not building with AI.

It was finding the idea.

So I built a Claude skill to do it for me.

Because in the end, one idea can change my life.

Yours too.

We’re living in a crazy era.

One article written by Dan Koe has been viewed by 200M+ people.

Dan Koe's viral X article "How to fix your entire life in 1 day" showing 204M views, 319K likes and 64K reposts
One idea, 204M views. Dan Koe's article that won the $400K award from X.

It did not just win him the $400K award from X. It probably opened doors he did not even know existed.

Substack works the same way.

Here are the stats from one of my Substack Notes.

The stats behind one Substack Note: 400K views, 4,118 subs, almost $2,700.

It got 400K views, brought in 4,118 subs (a quarter of my entire list), and printed almost $2,700.

So all we need is one idea. One idea that can change everything.

And other people’s posts are the best source of those ideas. That is why I built a Claude skill that travels the entire internet for me.

What does this Claude skill do?

This Claude skill scans YouTube, X, and Reddit, then scores every idea it finds.

How?

Against your own success metric.

That metric is different for everyone, so I will also give you a prompt that analyzes your past articles and posts to find yours.

Every idea gets cross-checked against your winning patterns. Match a pattern, score goes up.

At the end, the skill builds a single dashboard and opens it in your browser. Like this.

The Idea Desk dashboard, the Claude skill builds and opens in your browser.

The architecture of the Claude skill

Architecture diagram of the idea generation Claude skill: YouTube, X and Reddit scrapers feed MoneyTalks scoring and an overlap check, output is an HTML dashboard
How the idea generation Claude skill works: scrape, score, overlap check, dashboard.

The Claude skill has three parts that run in order.

  • Part 1. Scrapers. YouTube runs on yt-dlp and pulls the last 10 videos from each channel in your curated list.

    • X and Reddit can run on Apify actors, which are optional.

  • Part 2. Scoring. Every title from every source passes through the same function, the MoneyTalks formula tuned to your own success metric. YouTube and X score on the title alone. Reddit adds an upvote bonus on top, because on Reddit, upvotes are the proof signal.

    • The skill I’ll give you will create your scoring.

  • Part 3. Overlap check. Each idea gets compared against the headings of your past articles. Two shared keywords mark it as similar. Two shared keywords plus 50% overlap mark it as already written, and the dashboard dims that card so you do not pitch yourself a post you already shipped.

Output. Four tabs in one dashboard inside the Claude skill.

YouTube, X, Reddit, and an Assistant tab.

Ask it which idea matches your highest-paying post pattern, and it answers from your data, not training-set guesses.

The whole thing runs locally after each scan.

What does the Claude skill produce?

After saving the skill, to use it, you can use this slash command.

Running the idea generation Claude skill with the /idea-generation slash command in Claude Code
One slash command starts the whole pipeline.

After this, it’ll load the yt-dlp to scrape content from YT.

yt-dlp scrapes YouTube for free. No API key needed.

Then it started asking questions. I told it I wanted ideas about Claude Skills, so it came back with follow-ups.

The skill interviews you first. Pick your sources, it does the rest.

You can select only YouTube if you don’t want to add the Apify key.

(X and Reddit are also free on Apify for a limited number of calls for the actors that I defined.)

The dashboard opens in my browser the moment a scan finishes.

The Assistant tab inside the Idea Desk dashboard, an AI chat grounded in your published articles and freshly scraped ideas
The Assistant tab: trained on your articles and the latest scraped ideas.

The top of the page is a stats row. Total ideas. Fresh count. Already-written count. Score tiers.

There are four tabs.

Inside the Assistant tab, you can ask questions because it is already trained with your articles and the ideas recently generated.

Note: To use the assistant that was trained on your data, your LLM API key should be in your .env file

Use this prompt to make sure:

Save this api key :<paste-your-api-key> to my .env.

If you don’t have an API key from ChatGPT or Claude and you don’t want to pay, visit Ollama or Openrouter to get your free API key.

And I clicked on “Top YouTube pick”.

Here's how it works.

What's inside the Claude skill folder?

I’ll send you the full Claude skill folder.

The full skill folder: download, install, run.

What you need to do next is download the skill&folders and install it to Claude or Claude Code.

Like we did with SEO skills, as you can see in the screen video, like this.

Here is the link to this Claude Skill, which you can download and upload to Claude Code or Claude.
