I Built a One Person Business using Claude
Four Claude skills and one routine run a full content department in Claude Cowork. One prompt, five minutes, and drafts land in Google Docs.
Everyone wants to be a billionaire.
For the first time in history, you can do it alone.
The CEO of Anthropic, the company behind Claude, thinks the same.
The billion is still a bet, but the eight figures already exist.
Gary Brewer runs BuiltWith alone.
Reported revenue is $14 million a year. Zero employees.
So I’m testing the bet.
I’ve already run these departments for 7-figure companies.
This time I won’t be the one running them.
One Claude Cowork project, three departments.
Marketing. Engineering. Content.
Maybe I get there, maybe one of you reading this does. Let’s start.
The Back Office We'll Build in Claude Cowork
Each company has three departments in common.
Content to spread what you build.
Marketing to turn that attention into money.
Engineering to build the thing people pay for.
Each department has its own people working inside.
In Part I, we’ll build the Content team.
Each employee is a Claude skill, and the Claude loops between them form the management.
Summer picks one topic per run, validated against your reader’s pain, not a brainstorm of ten ideas.
Sarah writes the first draft as a hero arc, nine beats from hook to paywall.
Nat holds your writing DNA and rewrites every sentence that smells like a chatbot.
Thierry scores the draft out of 100 and loops it back until it hits 85.
I’ll give all files to you in the next sections.
Skills Are Employees. The Routine Is the Manager.
Now you have four employees, yet you still don’t have a team.
A team needs coordination, and that’s what a Claude routine does.
One scheduled routine runs the whole pipeline.
Summer picks the topic. Sarah writes the draft. Nat rewrites it in your voice. Thierry scores it, and below 85 he sends it back until it passes.
The finished draft lands in Google Docs.
Skills are your employees. The routine is the manager.
And you? You’re the CEO. The pipeline ends at your desk with one decision. Ship or fix.
A Morning in the Content Department
Let me explain to you one morning in the content department.
Summer
Everything started at 06:00 AM with Claude's routine.
Summer reads my archive, the last 48 hours of AI news, and the Reddit threads where my readers complain in public.
Five candidates survive the pain table and land in a Google Doc called TOPICS.
At 9:00, I open the Doc with my coffee.
I read five lines, type THIS at the start of one, and close the tab.
Sarah
Sarah picks up the mark ten minutes later.
She writes the nine beats, hook to paywall, and every number in her draft is one I can defend.
The launch date, the token prices, and the $2,700 from the last fight.
Thierry
Then Thierry did something I never scripted.
He refused the draft. The title claimed a fight between two models, and round one had not run yet.
He stamped NEEDS WORK on it, shipped it to review, and told me what would flip the verdict.
Run the fight, fill three numbers.
The draft landed in Google Docs with the flag on top. A one-line email landed in my inbox.
One decision on my desk. Ship, fix, or run the fight.
Nat
Nat reads it next. Sarah already writes inside my DNA, so his pass is short.
Zero banned words, zero em dashes.
Two sentences flagged anyway.
A word repeated inside one line, a could that should be a can.
He fixes both and updates the Doc.
5 Minute Setup
Everything is in this folder.
Go to Content, and download it once.
The skills are our agents, by the way.
The CLAUDE.md has everything your project needs.
It will ask you questions to create your tone, feed your data, and set your own loops.
So all you need is one prompt, these files, and 5 minutes.
Here is the link to these agents.
The Team Lives in AI Academy
One more thing.
Summer, Sarah, Nat, and Thierry are now agents in AI Academy, under Agent Teams. Install them from there and skip the folder.
I keep them updated as the series grows, Marketing joins the team in Part 2, Engineering in Part 3.
Agent Teams is an Inner Circle space.
Until August 1, annual subscribers get AI Academy access too.
